DNS Question

Postby counsel » Tue Jul 11, 2006 1:25 pm

I am using the most recent Community Edition, and I am attempting to run Scalix on a server on our LAN.

The Wizard says the network and dependencies checks fail. I can fix the dependencies...minor oversight :)

However, I have never meddled with DNS...

Here is the contents of the log file:

...

2006-07-11 13:49:19,349 INFO System check start
2006-07-11 13:49:19,450 INFO Operation passed: Environment check passed.
2006-07-11 13:49:19,551 INFO Operation passed: Filesystem check passed.
2006-07-11 13:49:19,773 ERROR Operation failed: Network check failed -- Could not find a host name in DNS that matches an IP address
2006-07-11 13:49:19,775 ERROR Operation failed: Network check failed -- IP address associated with host name 'localhost.localdomain' is '127.0.0.1'

...

Are there directions, somewhere, that show examples of what the files should look like or what should be in those files?

Thanks,

Counsel

Hi!
Here is a video for the installation of Scalix:

http://www.netometer.net/video/indexkey.html?scalix.php

Step3 shows you how to configure DNS and modify the hosts file.
