Import from AD using omldapsync, but do not support Exchange

Postby dpuryear » Wed Jun 28, 2006 6:08 pm

I'm a little confused about omldapsync in regards to using it with AD if there is no Exchange. I noticed that in AD, without Exchange, that the only attribute available for mail is 'mail'. Fine. I setup omldapsync with agreement 11 and update the search filter in Part 1.3 to be:

EX_FILTER=(&(cn=*)(|(mail=*)(rfc822mailbox=*)))

This then returns those entries that have 'mail' defined.

However, Part 1.3 does not include 'mail' in EX_ATTR. Also, I do not see it in mapping.

Is there a better omldapsync agreement to use when syncing with AD with no Exchange?

If not, then I can set this up by including 'mail' in Part 1.3 EX_ATTR and adding 'mail' to the mappings. However, I also noticed that agreement 11 seems to want to update AD? Is this true? Right now I am running in test mode and it works perfectly except I see entries like:

2006-06-28 17:04:24 STATUS: test apply delete data against dc2.xx.xx...
2006-06-28 17:04:25 INFO: ... 0 entries passed
2006-06-28 17:04:25 INFO: ... 0 entries failed
2006-06-28 17:04:25 INFO: ... 0 entries warned
2006-06-28 17:04:25 STATUS: test apply add data against dc2.xx.xx...
2006-06-28 17:04:26 INFO: ... 7 entries passed
2006-06-28 17:04:26 INFO: ... 0 entries failed
2006-06-28 17:04:26 INFO: ... 0 entries warned

What is that!? Will omldapsync try to update AD? I would like this to be one-way, i.e., AD is used to update Scalix only.

Looking at this further, I think that I would be better served using agreement 13 so that Scalix just thinks it is working with a simple LDAP directory instead of AD.
