Unread Sent items

Does anyone know how to make sent items show up as Unread in Outlook using Scalix? Every time I send an email it shows up as an Unread item in Sent box.

I assume that's a typo in the last sentance, i.e. it should read:

Every time I send an email it shows up as a read item.

This functionality isn't available in the Rules Wizard, but I did find the following article which looks like it could be made to do the reverse:

with a bit of Outlook/VBA scripting.

Please bear in mind this site is external to Scalix, so I'm not suggesting this is a Scalix recommend/supported solution, but it might help you do what you want.

no its not a type, when I send email it shows up as Unread Email in my sent box. It is Bold and Numbered as Not being Read yet. In all other email clients including Outlook on exchange when I send an email it shows up as a read email not bold. With Scalix connect on the other hand it shows up bold and UnRead.

Hi,
assuming a correct server-side setup, this should be a problem on the client side.
You can try to isolate the problem as follows:
- verify with a new Outlook profile for the same user
- verify as another user on the same machine
- verify on a different machine.

As we do not know any specific informations about the client (OS, Office Version, Service Packs, additional software especially Outlook-Addons) it is not easy to say more at this point.

So just to be clear.

We would expect items saved in the Sent Items folder to be unread so the behaviour you are seeing looks like there is a problem somewhere as opposed to this being expected behaviour with Scalix/Outlook.

Dirk has made some good suggestions to try and narrow down what's causing this.

Ok testing this in different clients and with outlook for exchange, when someone sends an item and it is put in the sent folder it is not Bold and Marked as a new message.
ie

The folder also has the (4) showing 4 unread messages, with 4 sent items in it. This is seen using scalix server + scalix connect + different office versions from 2000 to 2003 and XP version on Windows 2000 and Windows XP. No additional outlook-addons. If this is the expected behaviour of scalix ok no problem then. It was just pointed out to me by one of my staff.

Sent messages should display
- not bold
- not marked as new
- with a open envelope icon.

I have never seen a different behaviour.
So if all your clients show sent items like a new message we should have to look at the logs.
Starting with
/var/opt/scalix/logs/fatal
(it would be a good idea to clear/delete the file first and then send a message)

Another entry would be the client log (scalixmail.log). See Outlook Options -> Scalix Properties -> Tab Assistance (I hope this is correct, as I have just a german version available).

Fixed Sent Items showing as bold and unread by disabling the emon (email monitor) portion of nod32 antivirus.
You may have nod32 or a similar AV product, or another type of outlook plugin causing this problem.
