SUSE Network Install Problems

Postby mckenzsa » Wed Jun 21, 2006 12:53 pm

Ok, the problem is this line

006-06-21 09:47:45,569 ERROR Operation failed: Network check failed -- [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth-id-00:30:1b:b1:73:ce'

That eth ID isn't the address of the actual network card, but it is listed in SUSE as ETH0 along with the actual nic card (also ETH0) as an interface device. We don't know why it's pointing to that, but it's stopping the installation.
Below is the complete error message, we've tried all we can think of, and switched addresses so many times now. Any suggestions?

Can you post the output from an "ls -l /etc/sysconfig/network". Although I don't know why your system didn't create the file with the standard name, have you tried creating a symlink with that name pointing to your ifcfg-eth file?

Thanks,
Rachel

Did you try creating a symlink for ifcfg-eth-id-00:30:1b:b1:73:ce from ifcfg-eth-bus-pci-0000:02:06.0? If not, gIve that a try and see what happens.

Thanks,
Rachel
