Check your Scalix servers Address Creation rule. This is on the Settings tab on Scalix. You probably have a rule that is trying to create the same address that is being migrated.. ie adean@whittan-storage.com or adean@link51.co.uk

During this migration process, you should just delete any automatic address creation rules you might have setup. Once you have all the users migrated, you can readd the rules such that they will get the appropriate addresses when created via SAC (or the cmd line).

Hi

Thanks for you help having looked under the settings tab and then generall at the bottom theres a section called " Mail Address Settings" in there there is a rle as you describe "fLast" @ domain "link51.co.uk" thats the only rule. When i try to delete this rule i'm unable to as it's grayed out. if i add a rule then i'm able to delete it :) but i'm left unable to delete the "new" rule.

Any suggestions?

Deano..

Humm... I just tried this.. You are correct. I guess its a failsafe to guarantee that a new user get atleast one email address.

I had to revert to the scorched earth method, aka "the command line" ;-)

so if run the omshowiam -s all command you will see the list of rules.. Note each rule (you may only have one) will have a number beside it. That is the entry number. You will need that entry number to delete it with the omdeliam cmd.

Basically you need to delete these rules during your migration process.

omdeliam -s <entry number>

Please Note!!!!!

If you add any users direclty from SAC or via the command line, they will NOT be assigned any default email address(es). You need to be sure that when you finish your migraiton process that you go to the Setting tab on SAC and readd the address rules.

Hi,

that command has worked :) thanks. Got another error now though :(

[root@wssscalix ~]# omdeliam -s 1
omdeliam : Orn to Internet Address Mapping successfully deleted.
[root@wssscalix ~]# omshowiam -s all
omshowiam : [OM 29060] No Orn to Internet Address Mappings found.

[root@wssscalix ~]# ommigu -n "Andy Dean" -m "wssscalix,link51" -p password
ommigu: CN=Andy Dean/FOREIGN-ADDR=cn\=ADean,cn\=Recipients,ou\=TELFORD,o\=LINK51 migration state is unexpected ["error" not "started"]

ommigu: Summary of the results of this run.

CN=Andy Dean/FOREIGN-ADDR=cn\=ADean,cn\=Recipients,ou\=TELFORD,o\=LINK51 skipped because migration state is unexpected ["error" not "started"]
[root@wssscalix ~]#

Ok.. No problem.. we just need to reset the state.. Use:

ommigu -n "Andy Dean" --mark started

(note thats minus minus "--")

Then run your ommigu command again as normal

Hi

sorry for the long delay, had a few days off work as wife has given birth to our second. All working now except when send ing emails the below error is what we get:-

Message could not be delivered to the following recipient:

/ internet, tnef

because: 'A mail transport failure occurred' [OM 9205]

The message was forwarded to the local Error Manager:
sxadmin / wssscalix, link51/CN=sxadmin

our /etc/resolv.conf is :-
[root@wssscalix ~]# cat /etc/resolv.conf
; generated by /sbin/dhclient-script
search LINK_51
nameserver 151.151.3.205
nameserver 151.151.3.202
nameserver 212.248.254.250

top two are our internal DNS servers on NT4 botttom nameserver is external

A dig on domain link51.co.uk returns this:-
[root@wssscalix ~]# dig link51.co.uk

; <<>> DiG 9.2.4 <<>> link51.co.uk
;; global options: printcmd
;; Got answer:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: SERVFAIL, id: 58731
;; flags: qr aa rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 0, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0

;; QUESTION SECTION:

so close yet no cigar :(

Hi,

seemed to have sorted out the above problems now :) can send emils externally without any problems.

Jus tthat they don't get forwarded from exchange to the scalix server, rechecking through the manual again on page 164 of the scalix installation guide it tells how to add the entry for the user with the globe icon, there are no entries for any users with a globe icon, hence i think this is why emails aren't getting forwarded from exchange to scalix.

any thoughts much appreciated.

Cheers
