Hi All,
I have noticed that occasionally the load average goes up to about 3 on my Scalix system. This is due to iowait going above 60% for about 2-3 minutes.
This seems to happen (for example) when someone downloads message headers via IMAP or does a large sync on Outlook.
This system is not particularly well suited to high levels of disk io as it is using software RAID1 on two large SATA disks. However, it does have plenty of RAM (1.2Gb) so I was still surprised to see performance drop so rapidly at what should be an easy task.
A few questions arise:
Are there any kernel optimisations that might help this?
What would be the ideal disk system to use with Scalix to get optimum performance?
Cheers!
C
