rejected message after changing display name.

Postby chrisj_0 » Thu May 11, 2006 5:56 pm

Hi,
during testing of our new scalix server I've gotten some requests to change the display name for some users. They may want the department to be after their name on out going email. Or the most recent was replace jennifer with jen.
When I do this the display name is correctly changed. But I start getting rejections for the old OR address when Outlook has cached the contact or replying to an old email.

Code: Select all

----------------------------- ERROR REPORT ----------------------------- Message could not be delivered to the following recipient:

        Jennifer Martin / scalix, sekoworldwide/CN=Jennifer Martin

    because: 'Recipient name not found at destination'   [OM 9300]

    The message was forwarded to the local Error Manager:
            sxadmin / scalix, sekoworldwide/CN=sxadmin
------------------------------------------------------------------------

05/11/06 16:37:56  Passive Routing Record:   ** Message Relayed
                       Node: scalix  Address: scalix,sekoworldwide

                       Node: scalix  Address: scalix,sekoworldwide

Is there any way to stop this? Can I change a display name without getting the rejection? The email addresses don't change so why do I get the rejections?
TIA,
chris

You should add the line:

Code: Select all

SR_RESOLVE_MASK=8
to /var/opt/scalix/sys/general.cfg and restart the Service Router.

This tells the Service Router to use attributes 1 - 8 to search the SYSTEM directory. See the file /var/opt/scalix/sys/dir.attribs for the list of attributes.

What you can do is to also specify the mask as a list of attributes, i.e

Code: Select all

SR_RESOLVE_MASK=S/G/OU1

You need to be running 10.0.x for the attribute style mask.

Cheers

Ok, I guess I understand, but why is this not the default setting? Am I creating a problem for my self without knowing it?
What I didn't understand is I only changed the display name not the Name under Email addresses. I would think that the checking would be done on the entries under Email Addresses.
This user already had 2 email addresses entered. she requested that I change her account so instead of jennifer it displayed jen. I moved the entry under "Email Addresses' which had the jen email and name to the top of the list. The email address on here outgoing emails then changed but the "display" name on her emails didn't change. ???? I'm not sure I understand why Scalix behaves like this. Her name appears 4 times in the sac (since she had 2 emails configured). It seems like the "Display Name" is redundant.

well either way it's working now.
thanks for you quick reply
