IMAP Problem

I looked at the traces. The KMail trace shows a successful connection, authentication and reading a message. The Outlook trace shows a failure to LOGIN. It starts off on the wrong foot. Check the IMAP options you have enabled for the client. Please report back with all settings for this account on OL so we can get this buggy MS software to work as well.

Question: Why do scalex responds zu Outlook with authentication mechanism unavailable?

My Outlook settings are all standard. User name, email, server, password.
No entry at Root Folder Path.

are you on 64bit Suse by any chance? If so, please check the release notes for 32bit libs needed.

show me the way to success. In this case, not (only) MS Outlook is buggy, but the yast installer from SuSE 10 64Bit. Yast don't show me the cyrus-sasl-plain plugin in 32 bit version. So I downloaded and installed it by hand. Now IMAP works with Outlook and Outlook Express.
