Hi FrogSkin,
first, thanks for the thorough roundup on what was needed to fix this; also thanks for pointing out the fact that the omcheck command does not find permission errors on this file - believe this is a (minor) bug that I'll log in our bugtracking system.
As for Dave's comment, let me add two things here....
(1) I read this too, before adding my answer to the thread; my thought was - yeah, right, why haven't "we other" (in this case that's Sascha and myself) Scalix people - who should really know better - haven't given you that advice (to check the fatal log) in the first place - Scalix logging and error reporting is pretty good, and one shouldn't try to search for the needle in the haystack unless before having exploited the obvious.
(2) looking at the time of his post (he's in California...), what we talk about is 7:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning at his home, so I guess it's pretty obvious why one keeps his answers on the forum rather terse.
Anyway, knowing him - and everybody else with Scalix who writes on this forum - in person, I can certainly assure you that we're not trying to play the Mr. Dumb User card against you - email is a complex application after all.
Well, glad that it's working again for you.
Florian.
