Dowloading of Community Package too slow to d/l

Postby psypher » Thu Apr 20, 2006 7:45 am

Is there a better way to d/l the community package. Doing it from the scalix site is too slow to be usefull. ie I cannot even download it at the whopping 2 KB/s. If I try download the RAW packages from the site it flies at 24 KB/s which is fine. But the community link does not allow you to use download managers so getright doesn't work. Why is it so slow? Why is there not a torrent which makes everyone happy? PLEASE i need to get this package and I don't have access to another internet link plus if RAW downloads fast why not the full package. Does not make sense. Please help!

We don't bit torrent as there is a license agreement one must agree to before downloading. As a result CE has to go through php and then apache. Raw goes through apache. Php shouldn't be adding that much overhead. We don't see such poor performance and we would be downloading from our host that is hosted off site. Thousands of others have downloaded and have not reported problems with speed. Where in the world are you?

Thanks,
Don

Hi
I think psypher is right.
I too couldn't download the communicity edition from your servers but not because your servers were slow, it was about "no resume support" on the servers.
Now I am trying to download it again, hope would be successful.
Thank you very much for this nice project.

During my migration to Scalix over the past two weeks, I've also noticed that the everything on scalix.com is extremely slow. Retrieving my license key took about five minutes from a direct link.
