OpenSuse and X64 Based Systems

Postby yellowplum » Sun Feb 05, 2006 3:43 pm

Sirs,

I wonder if I can get some clarity on an issue that I have seen numerous differing responses to.

We are currently using OpenSuse 10 for Linux on an AMD x64 architecture server, and have running the x64 version of Linux.

I wanted to clarify two things; firstly does Scalix Community Edition run on OpenSuse?

Secondly, does it run on OpenSuse x64, regardless of whether Scalix is a 64bit or just 32bit program?

The reason for the confusion is that I have seen responses on this forum stating that Scalix does not run on OpenSuse 10 but Suse 9.3 and vice versa. However, I have not found a response to state whether Scalix as a 32bit version does or does not run on a 64bit OS platform in 32bit mode.

If it does run, great!

If it doesn’t is there a plan to make it so it can run, regardless of mode? If so what is the timeframe?

yellowplum,

Scalix 9.4 is the currently available version, both in the Community and Enterprise editions. Does not install or run on OpenSuSe 10 or any 64-bit Linux OS's.

Scalix 10 will install and run on OpenSuSe 10. It will also support the 64-bit OS's in our supported platform list; RHEL 3 and 4 and SuSe Enterprise Linux Server (SLES) 9. Including OSS 10. It will run as a 32-bit application on the 64-bit platforms.

Now the 64K answer - Scalix 10's ETA is in a couple weeks. Stay Tuned.

Thanks - Art
