LDAP and Common Folders

Hi,
i'm using Thunderbird to search in the LDAP directory of scalix.
My settings are:
host:myhost
Port:389
BaseDN:o=Scalix
With these settings the search is limited to the scalix address book. but all the contacts of my company are stored is public folders.
is it possible to search via ldap in public contact folders? and how?
sorry, i dont' know much about ldap.
