Reverse DNS issue and exchange

Postby keywestcity » Tue Nov 21, 2006 1:06 pm

I've got a problem where AOL and RR are rejecting mail from scalix because they do the reverse DNS lookup and it comes back to my nat'ed addresses. I have an exchange server that I'm doing coexistence with so I can't have a direct connection to the scalix server with the outside world.

My solution was to relay the outgoing mail through the exchange server and therefore the mail would look like it was coming from that address. Well.. it's not working. I made the change to the sendmail.cf and put the exchange server in as the relay but scalix still seems to be sending mail straight out through my firewall. Any idea's??

I assume you restarted sendmail after the change? Did you make the change to sendmail.cf or sendmail.mc?

The best thing to do is edit sendmail.mc, restart sendmail to regenerate sendmail.cf, then run omsendin to re-add the scalix-specific conf.

Try that, and if it doesn't work please post sendmail logs.

Thanks,

Chris
