I have had Scalix 11.4 running happily with amavisd-new (for virus scanning + spam assassin) and mimedefang (for a boilerplate) for many months now. All was well
Spam was getting too much, so we decided to try MailWasher.
I installed and configured Mailwasher, all fine.
Then I tried to integrate with Scalix :

The second thread explains how we need to set sendmail to listen on port 25, instead of scalix, and how webmail needs to be modified to allow sending emails too. (This change is needed so that MailWasher can get the true source IP, rather than localhost everytime).
I applied all the changes mentioned there, and after restarting everything :
1) scalix is happily receiving emails, and passing them to amavisd for virus scanning (I removed spam assassin), to mimedefang for the boilerplate and to mail washer for spam checking
2) logging in via webmail is fine
3) sending emails from Outlook or from webmail fails. Webmail says something about 'Can't establish connection'. Sorry I've backed out all my changes now so can't quote the error verbatim.
My /var/log/maillog has these :
Aug 3 17:09:04 server sendmail[8587]: n73G94J8008587: [server_ip] did not issue MAIL/EXPN/VRFY/ETRN during connection to MTA
Is this why sending emails fails? Has anyone else had this problem?
