mozilla lightning and caldav support

Hi,

We are looking for a group collaboration solution for our company.
I'am testing Scalix with Thunderbird and lightning in order to see calendars.

While I can view the calendar events on lightning I can't add or change them.
The path that I'm using to connect to it is: http://tscalix/api/dav/Calendars/Users/ ... m/Calendar

I understand from this link https://wiki.mozilla.org/Calendar:QA_CalDAV_Support that scheduling a new event through lightning is not supported by Scalix.
But from the other hand in the following Scalix link:
http://www.scalix.com/wiki/index.php?title=TB/TB-2008-01-CALDAV#Mozilla_Lightning
no limitation are mentioned for lightning.

There is some official answer for it?

Thanks,
Efraim.

Just tested it myself, and I could make standard appointments. Added a new entry, and it showed up in my Outlook calendar a bit later. Was slow though, but I am running a few VMs, though that may influence it too.

Hi,

Thanks for your response.
Do you know if there is some special configuration in order do it?
When I tray to add a new event from Thunderbird the "New event" option is disabled whenever I try to use the scalix calendar.

Thanks for your help

I didn't configure anything beyond the default values. This was on a fresh install of TB and lightning, to ensure I don't use old settings. To add the calendar, I used a CalDAV calendar, with the URL as you gave it. I used my own mailbox, which is a Premium user, but I tested this for a client on Monday on a Standard account and it worked.

Scalix 11.4.3, TB 2.0.0.12, Lightning 0.9, Windows Vista 32-bit.

I'm one of the developers of Scalix's CalDAV support.
I use Thunderbird with Lightning, as well as iCal.app for my day to day calendaring. With Lightning, I add items to the calendar by double clicking near the time I want and filling in the details - including adding the names of attendees that I want to attend. I'm using the latest nightlies at the moment with Thunderbird 3b2 which has a slightly better user interface - I sometimes forgot to tick a check box to send invites to attendees with the current "latest stable" version.

How Lightning works with the "caldav-sched" series of draft standards and how Scalix works with it don't quite mesh, however, this does not in practice cause a problem as Lightning uses Thunderbird to send the invites via eMail. Similarly, invites arriving in your inbox can be added to your calendar within Thunderbird and update messages should be recognised and associated with the correct original.

So, I believe this should be working for you. In your list of calendars, is there any indication of problems - for instance a triangle?

Regards,
Gren.

Is it possible to access other users calendars via the caldav protocol once permissions to that calendar have been granted to that user?

My specific scenario is this:
I have several users who would put their daily schedules in their calendar. They would then give reviewing permissions to everyone in the department. The entire department uses Thunderbird+Lightning to access their mailboxes/calendars. They will then use their credentials to add the shared calendar to lightning.

Hi gdzucker,

No, I'm afraid Scalix does not support delegate access to calendars via CalDAV - one issue with this is that there isn't a standard CalDAV way of doing it yet, although, clearly this is one thing on our wish list for the future too.

Gren.

Would it be possible to implement some sort of workaround by giving each user their own public folder calendar and setting permissions on that?

HI,

I finally found the problem.
I have installed the Sogo connector in order to test the "free/busy url" feature of it.
After uninstalling it Scalix Calendar works perfect.
But working with Thunderbird is a must for us an the "free/busy url" is something that we are looking for.

Any suggestion?
Thanks for your help.
