API Guide - Sending a Msg - where does the M-ID come from ?

On P 33 of the API Guide it shows an example of submitting a message to be sent. There is something I can't figure out. Included in the HTTP header is a line like this:
Message-ID: <65ea5343.6ead545@scalix.com>
Where does this ID come from ? It looks like something that would be generated by the server, but this is a new message being submitted for the first time.
