I like to backup the Mails in Scalix using rsnapshot.
I used to do this with cyrus-imap: When you need mails or mailfolders you can just copy them back and call cyrus reconstruct.

When i call mboxexp I have 10GB vor every day (with 99% equal content).

Scalix doesn't have individual files for each user's mailbox, so you'll have to back up the whole message store in one go.

As to the mboxexp being the same, unless your users delete most of their mail every day, they will be.
