We just upgraded to 11.4.1_U1. Following that I patched the pf* scripts for a multi-server environment (ie, replacing the 'OMHOSTNAME=' line)

I was able to add a number of proxy folders - great!

But I noticed one was bad, and I needed to replace it. I deleted it using sxpfdel, but after this found I was unable to add further proxy folders.

Now when trying to add USA Holidays calendar I get:

Code: Select all

[root@groupware1 groupware-scripts]# sxpfadd -vvv -p -t "WebCAL" -f "Public Holidays/USA" -i 1d -u "http://ical.mac.com/ical/US32Holidays.ics"
Work directory: /var/opt/scalix/ip/s/proxy/temp/work11691
Creating 'Public Folders/Public Holidays/USA'
From WebCAL feed 'http://ical.mac.com/ical/US32Holidays.ics'
*** Proxy Folder container not created: /00000pf

No reason is evident.

sxpflist shows:

Code: Select all

[root@groupware1 groupware-scripts]# sxpflist
00031a16559f6ec6    DELETED   Public Folders/UK Public Holidays
00019dfd2f5a045d    DELETED   /Scalix Recovered Items/Bob/UK
00031c0017026929    SYNCED    Public Folders/Public Holidays/UK
00031c4c13163900    SYNCED    Public Folders/Public Holidays/France
00031c70154480e0    SYNCED    Public Folders/Public Holidays/Germany
00031cba927288d0    SYNCED    Public Folders/Public Holidays/Italy
00031cd18d2ea07b    SYNCED    Public Folders/Public Holidays/Switzerland
00031d59e0d7f5fa    DELETED   Public Folders/Public Holidays/USA

omlistbbs shows:

Code: Select all

[root@groupware1 work11691]# omlistbbs -d 5
[root@groupware1 work11691]# omlistbbs -d 5
0 BULLETIN BOARD AREA                              (no owner)
  1  Public Holidays                       Proxy-Folder Admin /
  2   UK                                   Proxy-Folder Admin /
  3   France                               Proxy-Folder Admin /
  4   Germany                              Proxy-Folder Admin /
  5   Italy                                Proxy-Folder Admin /
  6   Switzerland                          Proxy-Folder Admin /
  7   USA                                  Proxy-Folder Admin /

As you can see, some "deleted" proxy folders are still listed (as DELETED)

I wondered if the problem is due to the fact that I am trying to re-use the name of a folder I previously deleted - which is still visible in sxpflist?

But if I run the same command but with a different folder name, the same thing happens. But now I see the imap folders in the Public Folder space - but they are empty (and I don't seem to be able to delete them using omdelbb):

Code: Select all

[root@groupware1 work11691]# omlistbbs -b -d 5
1057 BULLETIN BOARD AREA                              (no owner)
  150785  Public Holidays                       Proxy-Folder Admin /
  188864   UK                                   Proxy-Folder Admin /
  188865   France                               Proxy-Folder Admin /
  188866   Germany                              Proxy-Folder Admin /
  188867   Italy                                Proxy-Folder Admin /
  188868   Switzerland                          Proxy-Folder Admin /
  188960   USA                                  Proxy-Folder Admin /
  188976   US                                   Proxy-Folder Admin /
[root@groupware1 work11691]# omdelbb -B 188976
The specified Bulletin Board cannot be found

Cheers
Andy

Hi Andy,

Sorry for the delay in replying - I've been away, and then I was catching up... ;-)
Do you still have a problem?

When a Proxy Folder is deleted it is not immediately removed as some clients may still have the folder open. Internally the folder is marked as 'pending delete' and delete notifications are send to active clients. When the underlying storage indicates that there is no active client access then the Proxy Folder service can really delete the PF (and associated info) - this would normally happen the next time the PF sync occurs in the background. If your PF calendars are only synced daily then it would be the following day that the PF data is really removed (and the PF will no longer appear in the sxpflist output).

I feel that your issue is related to the fact that the PF name is the same and the previous one is still present but marked as deleted... however, having said all that I can quite happily create/delete/recreate PF of the name name on my server (both Public and private ones). I see multiple versions of the folder marked as DELETED in the sxpflist output.

What does the work directory for the failed sxpfadd contain?
(/var/opt/scalix/ip/s/proxy/temp/work11691)
Does the imap.response in this directory indicate a successful imap session (if that file exists).

Cheers - Richard

Richard,

I too was on holiday, just got back in today.

It does indeed seem that now that the old proxy folder has been expunged I am able to create a proxy folder with the same name, with no trouble. Therefore we can consider this issue closed.

Thanks again

Andy

I was just having similar issues getting the "*** Proxy Folder container not created: /00000pf " error message. Doing a omshut, omrc...seemed to fix it each time for me.
