sync calendar and contacts to iphone

Postby richardw » Mon Sep 22, 2008 7:38 pm

hi!

knows someone a way to sync calendar and contacts from outlook to the iphone?
itunes crashes always as described in some other threads here...

there must be a way!
maybe sync with another tool than itunes, etc..

i'm using scalix 11, itunes 8 and an apple iphone 2.1.x

thanks,
//richard

There is a workaround for this...

You can find numerous tools on the net that allow you to sync Outlook with Google for Calendar and Contacts. Some are free and some cost a little. I use syncmycal

You can then use a service like Nuevasync.com to do a push service from Google to your iPhone for calendar and contacts.

This works a treat for me.

Shouldnt have to work around... we chose scalix because it is fully integratable, when you start adding 3rd part apps to sync to this, and from this to that... you end up messing something up or losing something... We should not have to do a cheap fix to get around the lack of development for the most used cellular phone in the world... People have been complaining about this on this forum for months, and noone is doing anything about it...

If you HAVE to be able to sync right now, use NotifyLink - http://www.notifycorp.com/

Otherwise, wait for Activesync

For the calendar part of the question I found a CalDAV app for iPhone called RemoteCal.

The bad news:
It does not work for my calendar (lots of entries)

The good news:
It works for a simple test account with one entry.
My calendar does currently also not work with iCal and it used to work...

Will ActiveSync become available for the community edition as a separate purchase? I understand that license fees are involved so I guess it can not be offered free of charge...

Thanks,
Olger

No, if you search the forum you should be able to find the explanation from Florian.
