Change email address on an account synced with omldapsync

Postby davidw » Tue Jan 20, 2009 11:16 am

Hi

We use omldapsync to syncronize our users from openldap to scalix. It works very well, although up to now we have mainly used it to import new user data. We are now in a situation where we need to change the email address of a user. We can neither use the scalix administration interface nor the command line tools on our Scalix server.

Is it enough to change the mail attribute for the user in our OpenLDAP and then sync the ldap databases with omldapsync -I -u <agreement>, or is there something else that needs to be done?

Is there any risk with doing this change (such as the user loosing old emails sent to his old email address or something similar)?

Thanks,
David Westlund

Changing it in LDAP is the correct way to do this. Just changing the email address should not affeect the user. I would huggest you test it first, of course, to ensure there's no errors in your omldapsync.
