Help! Problem with amavis when using smtpfilter=true

Postby mdorion » Fri Mar 14, 2008 11:49 am

Hi

i've followed this wiki http://www.scalix.com/wiki/index.php?ti ... os/Amavisd to install amavis..

the installation went well but now webmails cannot receive any mails.

If if comment the line SMTPFILTER in smtpd.conf, the webmails can now receive mails but they are not scanned by amavis

If i uncomment the line SMTPFILTER, I get theses logs when receiving mails:

/var/log/mail last line
nautilusscalix sendmail[9911]: m2EFV7QQ009902: to=<user@mydomain.com>, delay=00:00:01, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=scalix_xport, pri=121071, relay=nautilusscalix, dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent

and in /var/opt/scalix/nx/s/logs/fatal:
ERROR Service Router(Incoming Trans) Fri Mar 14 11:31:09 2008
[OM 8307] Incomplete arpa message saved in file
~/xport.errs/00003u0
Pid of logging process: 9922

anyone have a solution ? thanks in advance

This has got to do with character conversion, judging by the forum post below.....

viewtopic.php?t=5570&highlight=incomplete+arpa+message+saved+file

Are you sending from an older scalix to this server?

Hopefully it helps.

Hi

I have 11.3 community edition

i'm only trying to send an email from me to me on the webmail interface and I don't receive the mail when SMTPFILTER is set to TRUE

But i receive it when SMTPFILTER is commented.

I'll try to have a look at the post you mentionned and i'll reply if it went well. thanks

so what shows up in /var/log/maillog when the mail gets sent while you've got SMTPFILTER=true?

what is amavis doing to the message? what is it scoring? Is it getting quarantined?

Amavis is a bit of a beast when it comes to filtering and there are some new policy features which may be causing grief.

If you just want simple spam and antivirus filtering i recommend a spamass-milter and clamav-milter implementation. use amavis if you need to go that extra level and have content filtering and quarantine handling also.
