How-To CalDAV in Thunderbird, other org. q, redirect mail

Postby toni31 » Thu Mar 13, 2008 5:37 am

Hi,

Found only one hint in ScalixWiki to connect Apple and Evolution, but this doesn't work for me.
There is also focus on connecting users calendar, but
1. i need a CalDAV-connection to some public folders, which are formated as a calendar.
Please provide some details how to do this (What's the url, how can i find out for different calendars...)

2. how do you administer Public folders with rights (No outlook in use). My way was in swa, creating a local folder, choosing a type (e.g. calendar) and drag into the public folder.

3. how do you deal with users, who need more adresses, e.g support, which receives mails to adresses who are divided in different projects, e.g. support. project.a@company.com, support.project.b@company.com...
from which they have to send.
When i create a group (with the adress support.project.a@company.com) and add the members of the support projects into this i need an additional normal user (for sending purposes and historical means) which should have the same mail adress like the group, but that doesn't work, of course. To avoid this a have to create a similar e-mail adress for the users to send out mail with this adress. But that isn't very convenient.

Has anyone a better solution?

Thank you very much
bye Toni

Go to http://<servername>/api/dav - this is the starting point for the whole CalDAV structure. You will need to log in, and from here you can see all your calendars. I have managed to get access to a public folder calendar on my server this way.

The commands you are looking for are the om*acln and om*acl series. Try doing a man ommodacln. You can use omaddbb to add Public Folders, but you can ONLY add email folders this way. You will need to create a different type (eg. calendar) using a client, either SWA or Outlook.

Using SWA and Outlook you can only send using your account's primary email address. You can send as any address using an IMAP client like Thunderbird, or you can use delegation in Outlook/SWA and send as a secondary account. I agree, not very convenient.

Hi Valerion,

sorry for the long delay, but i`m running always into others issues when i want to go deeper in one case, uff :?

Some testing with lightning in thunderbird was not very satisfying. The connection was succesful, but contents of the calendar wasn't there anymore after a while. The function "New loading" doesn't fix, deleting an reconnecting does, but that can't be the solution.

anyway.. discussing point 3 is now main thing. running in discussions with colleague and boss in the way "couldn't you figure that out before using scalix?" OK. my fault, but this feature is standard in buisness mail, i think, so i blame it on scalix

Is there really no chance to make a copy of mails, which will be send to one e-mail adress (which belongs to a mailaccount and not to a group), and this copy is automatically delivered to some other mailacoounts?
I have tested with a different reply-adress in Thunderbird, but replying to this mail in swa shows me the mailaccount adress and not the reply-adress (in the header-file i can see an entry with the different reply-adress, but its not used, mmmh??)

Thank you in advance
Toni

i've tries out with sxaa to have some users the same mails that are send to one specific user.
I have created user info@company.com and created rules with
"sxaa --user "info" --forward user1@company.com" and to a second one.
same i tried with the option "--redirect".

Redirect fits more, i think, because the sender is shown as the receipient from the original mail when using -- forward.
But when i use --redirect i get two mails: one from the original sender and one from the receipient with an attached file holding the mail. The "--retain" option changes nothing, even the mail was not in the info accout :?:

has someone used the sxaa and could explain me more than man?

Thanks
Toni

My Thunderbird/Lightning combination works, but I don't use it all the time, more for testing.

You are on the right track with sxaa --redirect without retain. However, my testing gives me only a single email.

Of course, you can always cheat, if you want to, making life a LOT easier for you. Try this:

1) Create a PDL with a different address (not guessable) an untick the Show in Address Book option in SAC
2) Have the email account do a sxaa --redirect to this PDL's email address (or you can try the O/R address, you will have to see which works better)
3) Put all the users in this PDL

I have not tested this, but my feeling is it will do what you want.
