How to authenticate using RSS access URL

Postby bhavers » Fri Jul 13, 2007 4:34 pm

Hi,
I'd like to use the RSS url to access my mailbox from my personalized Google homepage. In the API i read you can access the mailbox using the following url:
http://hostname.org/api/email@domain.co ... output=rss
But this requires HTTP authentication; is it possible to include the password in this URL?

Kind regards,
Bram.

Derek, thx, i tried that. But my username is my email address and that ofcourse contains a @ sign, so this doesn't work. Replacing it with @40 doesn't work as well. Any additional clue?

Kind regards,
Bram.

I think you mean %40.

You shouldn't need to use your username (AUTHID), Scalix can authenticate with your CN or S (if it's unique).

Yes i meant %40.
I tried changing the display name but some reason i can't log in using userid/pwd in the url. Therefore i made a small php script to do the authentication and wrote a small story about it in the wiki.

I just noticed that it actually doesn't work well as the RSS gadget on the google homepage cache the content. So it doesn't necessarily show the actual contents of the mailbox. I will improve the script later on when i have more time.
