I can add users but users can not log in

Postby viper77 » Wed Dec 07, 2005 8:57 pm

Hello,
I installed the latest version of Scalix on a Suse 9.3 personal edition computer I can log in to the Admin Console and I can add users but then the user can not log in to the web mail screen.
This is the error I get in the caa.log when a user tries to log in
<SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/1999/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/1999/XMLSchema" SOAP-ENV:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"><SOAP-ENV:Header><credentials xmlns="http://scalix.com/schemas/gofish" SOAP-ENV:mustUnderstand="1"><username>sbs@mydomain.com</username><emailDomain&gtmydomail.com</emailDomain><fugu>Ox396e4a79316b2059222b2624282d352f35263108</fugu><ts>0</ts><rand>5DF5E531056CA58695813C11EC8D806E</rand><rand2>92ba39c400f3c7f2c5f14e81f12e55812c5d7ae3</rand2></credentials></SOAP-ENV:Header><SOAP-ENV:Body><m:login xmlns:m="http://scalix.com/methods"/></SOAP-ENV:Body></SOAP-ENV:Envelope></debug></e:BadUserName></detail></SOAP-ENV:Fault>

I have also tried going back into the Admin Console to modify the users, but none of the created users are listed when I try to pull them up
this is the erro message I get when I try to pull the users from the console in the caa.log
2005-12-07 17:07:35,260 ERROR [GetMemberAccessGroupList.createSOAPResponseMessage:239]

Hopefully someone can shed light on these issues, we are having lots of problems doing this evaluation to migrate from Exchange.

Hi viper77,

I'm wondering what version of java and what version of tomcat you've installed. Also if you could produce the error and submit the relevent portion of the scalix-swa_log.date.txt in your $jakarta_home/logs directory.

Thanks,
Don

Hi viper77,

The solution is in the error. ".BadUserName</faultcode><faultstring>The username or password is incorrect". Try using sbarreros@yourdoman.com, last name, or first last.

Don

I've tried that, and it doesn't work.

I am going to try to reinstall it again, but before I do let me make sure I have this correctly.
I have my host name in the /etc/HOSTNAME file as myhost.mydomain.com

Another thing I noticed in the install logs there are multiple error messages saying

Hi viper77,

Sorry, I just reread your initial post. You are trying to install on an unsupported platform. Please see system requirements at

http://scalix.com/products/communityedition.html

Again sorry I didn't catch that initially.

Don

I reinstalled the application and here is what I found,
In the installation wizard when it asks you for the Default Domain and Server host

If I put
Deafult Domain: mydomain.com
Server hostname : mydomain.com

I can log in to webmain and the console with the administrative password

If I put

Default Domain: mydomain.com
Server hostname : myhost.mydomain.com

I can log in to webmail but I can't log in to the Administrative console

And in both cases I can't log in with the user I created when logged into the Administrative Console...

I think both the professional and the personal edition of suse 9.3 are the same thing except for a few added commercial packages in the pro edition.

I guess I'll just have to keep trying to make this work

OK, if you are getting that far let's keep trying...

I have my host name in the /etc/HOSTNAME file as myhost.mydomain.com

Yes, that is correct. What happens when you type hostname? You should see the fully qualified name.

If I put

Default Domain: mydomain.com
Server hostname : myhost.mydomain.com

This is right.

Progress if you can login to webmail.

To get you into SAC, is the account you created the default admin sxadmin?

If so then type

omshowu -n sxadmin/mailnode (your mailnode)

The first line of output will be

Authentication ID: sxadmin@....

Use that string as your login id for the SAC.

Best wishes,
Don

When I configure the server as
Default Domain: mydomain.com
Server hostname :mydomain.com

I can log in to the admin console, I add a user and try to log in as the user and I can't
I go back into the console to try to see if I can edit the user but the user is no longer there. If I try to add the user again it give me an error message saying that the user already exists.

in my /etc/hosts file I have the following

192.168.1.53 mydomain.com
192.168.1.53 myhost.mydomain.com

Are there any other configurations I need to be aware of?

Thanks for the feed back

Hi,

I think the problem is still down to the fact that suse Personal 9.3 is not a supported Scalix platform. You can try tweaking the installer into thinking it is running on an accepted platform by modifying:

/etc/SuSE-release

Then, you should probably reinstall Scalix and see if the problems clear up.

Please note this is unsupported and should you run into issues because of that, we will be unable to help you. We can only provide support for a set of distros that go thru QA and are officially blessed by Scalix. Once your OS comes of age and we ship a newer release, it's time for an upgrade ...

Regards,

Matthew
