I really need some help with the SAC not working!!!

If you need help until resolution is found with an sla, you will need to purchase/open a scalix support incident with the tech support team.

free forum support is best effort only with no sla. :-( also, provided this policy i won't be able to provide free support through private forum messages.

Update: After more searching, I haven't found any new posts. But, I did try some stuff on my own. For instance, I have an alias called mail.masonco.local that points to my scalix server (midsl052.masonco.local)..... I tried using sxmodfqdn to change the server to mail.masonco.local. Then I tried going back to midsl052. No error, but no change either.

I did go into the res.properties file and add my tomcat port (8009) but now instead of a "File not Found' appearing in the logs, I get this:

And I don't know if it is related, but if I restart scalix-tomcat.... I can't get back into the login part of the SAC. I have to restart httpd a few times, as well as restart the browser completely.

All I was doing was trying to get someone's attention. That's it! I would love to purchase a scalix support incident... BUT I can't do that until I prove that Scalix is what we'll use. I can't do that until I can show off the SAC.... I was almost able to do that but it stopped working. Now I have to get the SAC up and working so that I can show my boss and he can OK a $300 support incident. Kind of a catch 22 wouldn't you say?

Solution:

First, a small vent:
Okay.... After Florian basically told me I was out of luck if I wanted an sla to help me out and that I would have to wait until some random user... who knows the answer to my problem... which usually doesn't happen because users on the board have a problem of their own....

Not trying to bash Florian, it's just frustrating when I see lots of replies to post by florian, chris, and other scalix people... and then my post sits there for two weeks without any replies... seems like i should be entitled to be human and give a quick PM to see if perhaps my posts had fallen through the crack and were just forgotten.... NOT saying you HAD to help... just seeing if there was anything you could suggest.

Again... NOT saying you HAD to help.... just asking for a suggestion on what else I.... I repeat.... I could do to get my server up. I think that THAT is the purpose of a BB.... for people to get at least suggestions of where to go next! If the scalix people don't do that... then how the hell are we supposed to figure out where to look!?

All is well now. I made a new virtual machine, installed FC5, installed Scalix fresh install... and began to make ONE change at a time to get it to look like my main server. THEN when it broke, I noted what change it was and now I'm going to be a good open source / community user and post my solution. 8)

So... a recap on everything that was wrong: Absolutely NOTHING as far as sending/receiving emails, the SWA, etc. The SAC was the only thing that didn't work. I could get the login page, put in the right authid and a wrong password.... it would tell me incorrect login. But if I put in the RIGHT authid and RIGHT password I would get the "Couldn't fetch info from server. Possible problem with administration server" blah blah.

So I looked all across the board, answered any and all questions I could possible think of someone asking, posted log after log.... each one pointing at the RES and CAA as a problem with not receiving a document.... relooked at my tomcat ports.... just nothing I could come up with.

So then when I rebuilt a brand new installation on a virtual machine and slowly.... took two weeks people! I came across the part where I require SSL for webmail and sac access. The wiki suggested this at http://www.scalix.com/wiki/index.php?ti ... ixSecurity and so I did just that. Here's the catch.... it worked perfectly for a long time... I mean a full month. Then suddenly it stopped. As a matter of fact... Aug 1 at 1:03 AM was the last time an admin was able to use the SAC... we installed scalix on July 1st.

SO, to fix my problem, I had to go back into my ajp and jk instance configuration files (/etc/opt/scalix-tomcat/connector/ajp & /etc/opt/scalix-tomcat/connector/jk) and make a change.
