Can't create 25th premium user? Scalix v 11.2

Postby TCWardrobe » Mon Sep 21, 2009 6:36 am

Hi folks,

I know with scalix v. 11.2 we should be able to have 25 premium users but as I try to add the 25th a popup in sac tells me I do not have a licence left to add this user. Original message is in german and reads: "Es ist keine Lizenz verfügbar um diesen Benutzer einzurichten."
I did count the users in sac at least often enough te be absolutely sure right now there are only 24 premium users and one sxadmin user account (which is a standard user account). How come? Any thoughts? Maybe as I did delete the one or the other user before, the 'counter' got confused?
I did add this 25th user as a standard user now, but I need to change this user to premium!

regards
Michael

Hi Valerion,

so it seems it thinks 25 user accounts are used...

Code: Select all

# sxlicense -u
   Scalix License Usage

Local Usage

  Premium Users:     25
  Standard Users:      3

Totals
  Premium Users:     25
  Standard Users:      3

omshowu -m shows 28 accounts too... but at least two of them are somewhat strange. There is "sxqueryadmin" and a test-resource I did create months ago. omshowm -n shows for this "account"

Code: Select all

groupie:~# omshowu -n "Testresource/groupie"
Authentication ID: Testresource
Globally Unique ID: 19300000334cb274-7.4.01.01
User Name : Testresource /CN=Testressource
MailNode : groupie
Internet Address : "Testressource" <Testressource@domain.de>
System Login : 60542
Password : set
Admin Capabilities : NO
Mailbox Admin Capabilities : NO
Language : GERMAN
Mail Account: Unlocked
Last Signon : 21.09.09 23:24:02
Receipt of mail : ENABLED
Service level : 0
Excluded from Tidying : NO
Recovery Folder visible : NO
Resource Flags: Accept AllowConflicting AllowRecurring
User Class : Full
SIS URL : sxidx://groupie.domain/09300000334cb274-7.4.01.01
But it is NOT a user (see User Class). What happened there?!

regards
Michael

sxqueryadmin is a standard user created on all servers. Used for the Admin Console.

That user is indeed Premium. All Resources are also counted as users, as they all have mailboxes. You can go to the Resources tab in SAC and change it to Standard, or delete it completely. That should free up the last license for you.

Hi Valerion,

I use sxadmin or my admin account to login to sac, no idea about sxqueryadmin... but I am sure I would find that users purpose explained in the documentation... but as he is default and not premium I don't mind for the moment.

Regarding the resource, I did delete it yesterday and indeed it did free up the 25th free user. But hard to believe that a resource object counts as a user... but then again, it is a proprietary / commercial world we live in...

Anyway, thanks for your help, you got me in the right direction! :D

Regards
Michael

You never log in as sxqueryadmin, but it's used by the web server to log in when it needs a user on the system.

A resource shares all the other attributes of a mailbox - you can log into it, you can send and receive emails, etc. The only difference is that appointments are auto-accepted and that it has free/busy, even as a standard user. It's much easier to use an existing object that already exist, rather than creating one from scratch.
