Users/Groups missing in SAC after hostname change

Postby pwf1960 » Tue May 06, 2008 8:30 am

I am running version 11.0.3. For several reasons, we had to change the server domain (which means we changed the fully qualified hostname), following some docs on the Wiki, the change seems to have gone smoothly, in the sense that mail is flowing, webmail works, etc. However, no users or groups are visible in SAC. You see a quick "Fetching..." message, but that's the extent of it. Could I have missed a file in changing things? I've sought, but not found any orphaned references. Any thoughts/assistance you folk might have would be appreciated

I have the same problem,
but with 11.3.0.77

for political reasons I had to rename everythign from our-domain.com to our-domain.org.uk

it's been working ok for a couple of months,
and now I need to setup a new user,
and change the forgotten password of an existing user.

I can create new users, and they appear in "sac",
but not the existing users.

same with groups.

they all show if I do "omshowu -m all"

fixed it!
I read the manual

I think I found some notes on how to do it (in the forums or knowlege base?)
which I followed
and it appeared to work, until yesterday when I noticed the problem in SAC

and now that I've read the administration manual,
there is a chapter on how to do it in there,
and I don't remember doing step 1 before

page 130

so I've just done the sxmodfqdn
and rebooted
and it now works

sxmodfqdn

Postby pwf1960 » Fri May 09, 2008 7:50 am

I get the following when I run sxmodfqdn:

[root@hostname ~]# sxmodfqdn -o hostname.olddomain.com -n hostname.newdomain.com
Status -- search directory for HOST-FQDN=hostname.olddomain.com and modify ...
[OM 16954] Entry not in the Directory

Status -- modify user with authid sxqueryadmin@hostname.olddomain.com ...
ommodu : [OM 8040] The user can't be found, or has been deleted.

Failed -- Error in modifying user sxqueryadmin@hostname.olddomain.com
Status -- /opt/scalix/bin/sxmodfqdn has completed with one or more errors.

I presume the user sxqueryadmin is the missing directory entry, but it shows up in omshowu
-m all.

I am guessing this is the user that sac uses?

Now that I've a bit more of a clue I will continue. BTW, I followed the procedure outlined on the WIKI at http://www.scalix.com/wiki/index.php?ti ... ChangeFQDN which if not cribbed from the docs, is certainly informed by them.

So, I am still stuck.

Thanks for helping me narrow the field a bit.
