Mboxadmin Not working

Has anyone used mboxadmin? I've issued the command but it doesn't seem to be working. Is there a way to see if the permissions are set?

if you use onshowu <authid> it should show if the user has mboxadmin turned on for that user.

Where are you truing to use it? Outlook?

I'm trying to do a migration from exchange to scalix using the eshuttle software. I've been working with their tech and one of the things that needs to happen is the sxadmin profile needs access to all the mailboxes on scalix to do the migration.

One of the ways they test it is to open the sxadmin profile and see if you can open another users mailbox. This is not working for me even though I ran the command to give sxadmin mboxadmin rights.

I assume you're testing this with Outlook.

eShuttle will require CDO, firstly, is that installed?

Then, the format for in Outlook is:

username: kanderson
password: SU=sxadmin;letmein

Where letmein is the password for sxadmin.

Ya we have CDO installed. I looked at the sxadmin account and it has admin mailbox rights but I still can't seem to use it. is there a command I can run to test it?

I was able to login a different account using the sxadmin password with thunderbird. I'm going to write this for any other "new to scalix" people out there. Here is how I did it.

1 - set the permissions for sxadmin to mboxadmin rights:
ommodu –o sxadmin –c +admin –mboxadmin
2 - create an account in thunderbird for the mail box you want to open (I'm going to use support@xxx.com for an example) I also used imap not pop.
3 - Within thunderbird right click on the new account you just created and go to properties
4 - select server settings
5 - change the user name to:
mboxadmin:sxadmin:support

Note!! "support" in this instance is the user name of the mailbox I want to open. Basically it is the information that comes before the @xxx.com. So if you have an account called fred@widget.com you would put mboxadmin:sxadmin:fred

6 - click ok, you will get a warning that the account has been change click past that.
7 - goto the inbox and click get mail, you should get a password screen. type the SXADMIN password and the account should open.

I've found you can jump around accounts by simply changing that user name and reentering the password. Now if I could just figure out how to get this to work with eshuttle....

Come to find out the problem wasn't with mboxadmin, it was the setup in eshuttle. I had the server ip address being used, I changed it to the server name and suddenly everything worked. Was a frustrating thing but at least I learned some tricks with mboxadmin that are useful.
