Query about GroupAdmin

Postby cmk » Sat Mar 03, 2007 3:35 am

Hi folks,

I have scalix 11.0.1 installed on a ubuntu dapper vserver. Webmail and sac works fine. However, I have a need to set up the following policy for administering groups:

Each country group will have 1 administrator. They will be able to create/delete/view User accounts under their own country group only.

As sxadmin, I am able to create the country groups and add members to these groups. I set one of the user as manager of a group. However, when this user logs into sac, he can only add/remove members from the group. He cannot add a new user. If I give him ScalixUserAdmin privilege, he can view/update/delete all users which contradicts the above policy.

How can I restrict his ScalixUserAdmin access such that he can only view/update/delete users in the country group he manages? Or is this policy of administering groups not possible in Scalix?

Any hint or help is much appreciated.

Hi,

I don't think SAC can do exactly what you want at the moment. The mailbox admin capability given to a user is global as you have already found out.

Danny

Yes, I have since recommended some other software to the client. I really like scalix's feature set, but the mailbox admin capability was the deal-breaker. =(

In any case, appreciate your reply, Danny. Thanks!
