Supported Platforms

Dear Scalix Team,

we are running the Scalix Community Edition on Debian Etch for some years now. Since a few days we are seeing message store corruptions and are thinking about reinstalling Scalix on a fully supported platform. We are now trying to choose which supported platform fits our needs best.

Supported platforms according to the download page are:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 / CentOS 4 => not supported for Scalix 11.5
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 / CentOS 5
  • Fedora 9 => already reached end of life July 2009
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9.0 => not supported for Scalix 11.5
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10.0
  • SUSE Linux Open Source Software (OSS) 11.0 => end of life: June 2010
  • Debian => end of life: April 2010

To decide which platform to use it would be interesting for us to know which platform will be supported with Scalix 11.5.

  • Are there any plans to make Debian a fully supported platform in the future?
  • Will there be unsupported Scalix 11.5 packages for Debian Lenny?
  • Will SLES 11 be among the fully supported platforms for Scalix 11.5?
  • Will OpenSUSE 11.1 or 11.2 be among the fully supported platforms for Scalix 11.5?

Thanks a lot for your answers.

Regards,
Christoph

Bump...

FC9 is no longer supported via yum with the standard repos, so I will be looking to update my home community server to something easier to maintain. It would be great to have some idea of what version of FC, SUSE OSS, Debian will be supported in the next version so I can know whether I can wait for 11.5 or if I should find an alternative that works with newer releases...

Hopefully there will be a platform that is supported by both Scalix and the Distributor at the same time!

Thanks!

Have you considered CentOS?

Agreed with the CentOS idea. I would recommend that, or one of the commercial platforms (RHEL, SLES).

Hi,

I have moved our Scalix installation from Debian to CentOS a few weeks ago. :)

The initial idea for this posting was to get some official information from a Scalix representative about which platform will be supported in future releases before deciding which platform we would use.

I think it would be a good idea if Scalix would publish this kind of information along with some kind of roadmap about what is planned for what release.

Thanks for your answers,
Christoph
