Thanks

Florian-

Will the enterprise edition (scalix-11.2.0-GA-enterprise-redhat-intel.tgz) - run on Fedora Core 5? -- Or will I be required to upgrade to 7?

Thanks

Sounds like many of us are in the same boat. I sent an email to support this morning about not receiving the release notice. 9 hours later, I still haven't heard back.

Its been awhile since the last release... Maybee the guy who posted it all to the net and updated the Support Announcement area left the company.... Thats my guess, since with every other release, its been, BAM BAM, its all posted, and the only posts are about the content of the release....

Whatever the reason, its not a very good sign. You can make a good widget, but, if you can't deliver it to your customer.... you got a problem.

Folks,

I don't know what went wrong - the announcement was supposed to go out 9:30 am EDT on Thursday; the actual mechaniscs of this were with our marketing department and we've used a different tool this time for sending it.

I'll investigate into what went wrong and see if we can re-send on Monday.

In the meantime, these are the links to the Enterprise downloads:
http://downloads.scalix.com/GA/scalix-1 ... -intel.tgz
http://downloads.scalix.com/GA/scalix-1 ... el.tgz.md5
http://downloads.scalix.com/GA/scalix-1 ... -intel.tgz
http://downloads.scalix.com/GA/scalix-1 ... el.tgz.md5

And these are the release notes:
http://downloads.scalix.com/.community/ ... NOTES.html

I cannot post the passwords in this forum, but they are the same as for the original download when you received the license and the same as for the 11.1 update, so I assume all commercial customers will still have those available. If not, please ping me by email and I'll get them to you if you qualify - please reference the company name under which you are registered as a customer with us.

To the FC5 question, no, this is no longer supported with 11.2 - only F7 is; for the "community platforms", i.e. opensuse and Fedora, we only ever support one release. This is actually the key reason why we do recommend to use the Enterprise versions (RHEL or SLES), as they have much longer lifespans, and we keep in line with this for our support. This is why actually the community platforms are listed as "for evaluation only" in our system requirements.

Cheers,
Florian.

And ... btw ... the download files have been on the servers since last Tuesday - that has been done by new people and worked well. I have done the forum postings, as I have for quite a while. In the past, I did also sometimes handle sending the customer announcement (and I am still with the company); I didn't do it for 11.1 where it worked well and something seems to have gone wrong for 11.2, and I personally apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. Whatever the reason was, I will make sure that we fix it. Promised.

Hey Florian,

I really like 11.2 by the way!

I just wanted to say that the way I have been finding out about new release for the last year or so, is I hop into the forum and check the date for "Support Announcements" and it will be updated with a fresh date.

I am sure many other users look here as well, and that is what I was refereing to in my earlier post, that there was no entry there, and there still is not.

My concern is that users are logging into the forum, seeing that the date of the most recent Support Announcement has not changed and logging back out, frustrated still that 11.2 has not been released and compleatly oblivious to the fact that it has.

The Dude

P.S. I increased my pop3 log to "all messages" and am capturing strange message about [OM 24070] Debug message for Lab use : Pop3 user does not have full licence.

I thought POP3 was free for comunity use, its working fine, but, what is the error about?

Hi,

my bad - I had previously put new version announcements in both the general Announcements and the Support Announcements board; this time I stayed with the general announcements. I have now copied it across, it should really have been in both places.

Thanks - I too believe that Scalix 11.2 is the best Scalix to-date! :-)

On the POP message, I reckon that this only means that the POP user is setup as a standard user; this does not change functionality, so I assume that this message is strictly informational and nothing to think about - yes, unlimited standard users - which can use POP - are free in Community Edition. I will check with development to be sure that this does not indicate a problem.

Cheers,
Florian.

Hmm. Either that message no longer exists or you trnascribed it wrongly. I cannot find it in the source code at all.

I presume by increasing the pop3 log to "all messages" you did something like "omconflvl pop3 <large-number>" in which case you can expect to see messages that would not normally be displayed and may not have any meaning in the current context.

If you cut'n'paste the exact error message and let me know which version of the server generated it I can tell you more about it and what, if anything, it means. If it really is meaningless I'll just remove it from the source.

Florian,

Right now we are running FC5 on a xen box- and we have the enterprise edition of Scalix. Since 11.2 will not work or be supported with FC5 - are their upgrade instructions I could use to do an upgrade and get Scalix running on FC7?

I really want to utilize 11.2 so it looks like its time to do an upgrade.

Thanks

11.2 is stable for me

Postby cdclark » Tue Oct 02, 2007 11:16 am

Just wanted to post up to say that 11.2 has been good to me! My scalix server has had every incremental 11.X release, as well as 10 prior to that, and every single upgrade has been smooth. I truly appreciate that!

I'm running CentOS 4, with all available yum updates.

Florian,

I installed

scalix-11.1.0-GA-core-rhel5-intel.tgz

on my Centos 5 system and running as a "community platform" (ie no license key). Was this the wrong file? Can I upgrade using the package you referenced?

And I **think** I figured out why Tomcat is dead on my system. It seems that my running server, I installed Tomcat5 from the Centos base. Things are in a different place. Then on Sept 27th I did something and I have a bunch of files in /etc/tomcat5 that are dated Sept 27th. That is when Tomcat stopped working. I cannot figure out what I did then. I did not update Tomcat5 from Centos until today. But I hope I can run the installer and uninstall Tomcat, then reimstall?

So anyway, get back to me on the "core" vs "enterprise" question.....
