Offline Synchronization Automation....

Postby binarynomad » Mon Dec 12, 2005 10:55 pm

Something I would like to request:

Add an option to have Scalix auto-synchronize folders in OFFLINE mode.

We have found that the best response our users get when on the VPN is to have them stay in OFFLINE mode when using Scalix. Navigating between messages with attachments can cause an unbearable delay, so we have them stay in OFFLINE mode. The user is still able to compose an email and it gets sent automatically after 1-3 minutes, but new mail is not brought down. The user has to goto (Tools->Scalix Synchronization-> Synchronize Folders) to check for new mail. Can an option be added to do this at a perscribed interval?

We will be providing a better Outlook experience for users at the "edge" of the corporate network in a forthcoming release.

I'm using it internally right now and it has made a huge difference to my Outlook experience. I no longer need to be concerned about whether I'm in the office in the UK, in a remote office, at home on an ADSL/wireless connection, on a train, at a customer site....my Outlook experience remains the same.

Watch this space.
Cheers,
JG

To add clarification to JG's statement about a forthcoming release, this does *not* mean the release that is planned for Q1 this year.

We are still going through exhaustive testing on the implementation of the improvements that JG talks about.

Cheers

I'd like to also put my hand up to have this feature included :)

Hi,
I've been watching this space! Just wondering if there's an update as to when/if this feature will be included?

Progress is being made. We're anticipating this to be released in Q3.

Regards,
Don
