Dear Scalix Customer or Partner:
It has come to our attention that the recently released Microsoft Update KB 918899 for Windows XP SP2 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918899) has introduced a new security model that impacts Internet Explorer. When specific javascript calls are made, Internet Explorer generates a "permission denied" error and fails to complete. Scalix Web Access is one of many applications that use this javascript command. In SWA, the failure manifests itself as an inability to Send Messages or Save Calendar Appointments. The failure may not occur immediately, but over time users will notice that the Send and Save buttons no longer work. When this occurs, messages can no longer be sent, however, messages can be saved in the Drafts folder. Restarting Internet Explorer will temporarily rectify this problem, however, it will eventually occur again.
Currently the only solution is to uninstall Update KB 918899. To do this, go into the Control Panel, choose Add or Remove Programs, click on the "Show Updates" checkbox and select the update titled "Security Update for Windows XP (KB918899)". Microsoft is aware of this issue and has stated that a new Windows XP Security update will be available from them soon. Please contact Microsoft for further information about this upcoming update.
Thank you,
The Scalix Team
