All,

Got this when trying to upgrade to 11.3:

Code: Select all

2008-01-24 16:51:15,604 ERROR Operation failed: Aborting installation thread.

I have never seen this before and wanted to know if anyone else ran into this and what I could check to fix? Also I have not done anything with the sxadmin user- the user is there.

Upgrade went fine on my test server..

Follow up question-

Everything installed correctly except the server- so right now everything is upgraded to 11.3 except the server and webmail (I rolled that back to 11.2)

Is this OK and when I figure out what this problem is- when I do the upgrade again, should I just install the server or uninstall everything and reinstall everything (of course not the mail store ;p)

Thanks

Sounds to be like Scalix wasn't properly starting up to allow the user to be removed. Have you tried running with the debug flag?

Valerion-

Correct- Scalix server would not install because it failed to remove the user- but I have no idea why.

How do I enable the debug flag?

./scalix-installer --debug IIRC.

Try ./scalix-installer --help

Interesting - looks like this part is the problem:

ERROR Operation failed: Install /bin/rpm -U -v --percent /scalix-11.3.0-GA/software/scalix_server/scalix-server-11.3.0.11339-1.f7.i386.rpm: (1) ['Preparing packages for installation...', 'error:

On the test server it gave the same error failed to unlink the user, but it installed w/ no problems - so the rpm not installing is the problem. Any reasons as to why the rpm would not install?

I am going to run the installer again Friday with the debug option, but if we can figure out what the problem is before hand that would be good as well. I want to try to have as little downtime as possible.

Thanks
