SuSE 10+ Scalix=Rock Solid Performance. Just waiting for 64

Postby nceballo » Mon Dec 12, 2005 12:20 pm

I saw in one of these posts that some had installed Scalix on a Suse 10 by editing the release file. Well I did the same and it rocks. The installation was a breeze. I must admit that I am impressed with Scalix. I was using Exchange 2003 and for what? All I am waiting for is the Scalix 64 bit version if it is ever made. The only down side if you want to call it that is that I had to downgrade from Suse 10 64bit to Suse 10 32bit to run the server otherwise why it rocks!

We won't have a 64 bit version of the server, but we will be supporting installation on some 64 bit platforms. Don't worry though -- you will get some serious advantages from the 64 bit kernel: the main one ithat affects the server is much better (kernel) memory management because of the way the hardware is built.

It's kinda difficult to benchmark it, but there's a good chance that the scalix server runs faster as a 32 bit app than it would as a 64 bit app simply because the code is that much more compact.
