Spamassassin... how can I tell if it's working?

I just finished going through the Spamassassin installation (from the Scalix KB). Everything seemed to go well. So, I have a couple of follow-up questions:

1) How can I tell what Spamassassin is doing? Is there a 'quarentine' area or something?

2) If my customers start telling me they sent emails, but they aren't arriving, how can I (temprorarily) shut off Spamassassin?

Thanks...

Hi bluemike, one way to check if spam assassin is processing your inbound messages is to look at the headers. It usually adds X-Spam-Status and X-Spam-Checker-Version headers to the messages. The former is a score with some detail on test results.

I don't think it has a quarantine.

Well as it turned out, Spamassassin was working too well. After I installed and configured it, using the '2 IPs' method, I stopped receiving nearly all messages and couldn't send at all. I kept getting 'Relay not allowed' when trying to send.

So I have un-installed it and am now looking for other options.....

Thanks

bluemike,

re-implement it using the single-IP method that one of the Scalix reps posted.
