I have successfully tricked Scalix 11.1 to detect CentOS 5 as RHEL 5, so the installation can continue. I fulfilled all of the dependencies without any real hiccups. At the very end of the installation, I see the following messages in the log:

Any suggestions? The only hit I got on Google suggested running the graphical setup; however, this server doesn't have X on it.

I'm about to give up on Scalix, which I hate to do, as it seemed to have so much potential.

I almost gave up myself but i finally got past this point ( on CentOS as well). What I found was that postgresql was not starting. What I did was added a line to my /etc/hosts file witht he server's ip address FQDN hostname. After that I was able to get postgresql to start but then you have to edit the pg_hba.conf in /var/opt/scalix/aa/postgres/data trust at least the local ip address. After that postgresql should start then create the scalix user with:

"createuser -h <hostname> -U postgres -p 5733 scalix".

After that I had to create a empty scalix db with:

"createdb -h <hostname> -U scalix -p 5733 scalix"

(Don't know if this part is really needed but) I then ran "sxpgsql-init" and "sxpgsql-recreatedb" under /opt/scalix-postgres/bin.

I then re-ran the installer and choose re-configure then scalix db. Hope this works for you and hope I didn't forget any of the steps I took.

(And I'm just trying to check out scalix for the first time. Hope it's worth it. )

Haven't done anything else yet but look at the db and it's empty. I hope it's suppose to start out like that........

Reconfigure everything with the installer after you get the db up and running. It seems to have finally worked for me after I did that.

Though my boss has decided he wants Debian installed so here I go again. Wish me luck.

I realise that this thread is almost over, but I installed Scalix 11.1 on Centos5 without any problems. I used a how to that was for CentOS4 (cant find link right now) which outlined how to install spamassasin and clamav (anti-virus) as well.
From memory, no 'tricks' were needed - you could just tell the installer that you were using Centos5 (again I dont have the link).
