SWA 11.1 against Scalix 10

Postby rpl » Wed Aug 15, 2007 1:39 pm

I installed a separeted SWA 11.1 on CentOS5 to work against my Scalix 10 server.
(I had to replace the SWA 10 before I have to upgrade the Scalix server this weekend)
Installation without problems. But login to webmail is impossible.
Error Message (often seen in the Forums)
"The evaluation period for this time-limited product has expired..."
The license used on my Scalix 10 is ok. It was used with my complete test installation of Scalix 11. But installing SWA standalone the installer didn´t ask for a license.
The recommeded reboot didn´t change anything.
Nothing to find in tomcat logs
I noticed that there was no network traffic between SWA and Scalix server.

Sorry, there *IS* network traffic, of course, (I used my filter properly now.) It is IMAP conversation.
And I noticed in Release Notes the article about SWA with SMTP authentication.
May be that is the problem?
I tried some smtp.auth configs, but nothing changed.
Here is my ual.remote, which should be used as template.
Most users authenticate against Active Directory, some against Scalix local.
--
auth required om_krb5 user_unknown=ignore
auth optional om_auth use_first_pass
account required om_auth
password required om_auth nullok
--
Can anybody help me to create the right smtpd.auth? But the local smtp clients work without smtp authentication, this should work anyway to avoid a lot of work.
Other ideas?
Would the capture file be helpful?

There are issues with running a newer client than server, and as such Scalix has decided to disallow it explicitly. The same happens with Outlook as well.

Upgrade your server first, Outlook or SWA 11 can corrupt a Scalix 10 mailstore beyond recovery, due to features not implemented in 10 (especially UTF-8).

My intention was *NOT* to upgrade 2 systems at the same time.
This is to read in Scalix 11.1.0 Release Notes, Release Date: 2007-06-07:
"...
You can run a Scalix 11 SWA web server against a Scalix 10 server. You cannot run a Scalix 10 SWA web server against a Scalix 11 server.
..."
btw, tomorrrow I´m going to upgrade my Scalix server. I expect the SWA running without changes.
Knowing it before would help to avoid trouble with external users.

After the upgrade of my Scalix server to 11.1 (no need to license change) the separate SWA works properly without any changes.

Therefore: Avoid mixed environments.
