Spamassassin is rewriting my hostname, Scalix being bypassed

Postby blackbear » Tue Nov 15, 2005 1:24 am

Ok, so I have my server set up to accept mail for @blackbear.biz. Everything was going fine (if a bit spammy) until I installed Spamassassin (this is under Fedora Core 4, BTW)

Now all the mail is being rewritten by SA so that if it comes in as turner@blackbear.biz, it is resent after miltering as turner@mail.blackbear.biz (the hostname). And Scalix isn't intercepting it, so it end up in /var/spool/mail/turner.

I suspect I could teach Scalix to snarf mail sent to the @mail.blackbear.biz address as well, but I'd really prefer to have SA not mangle the address. Any thoughts? Example log entry follows:

Nov 15 00:22:19 mail sendmail[21127]: jAF5MHm2021127: to=<turner@blackbear.biz>, delay=00:00:02, xdelay=00:00:02, mailer=relay, pri=31183, relay=[127.0.0.1] [127.0.0.1], dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent (jAF5MHD2021128 Message accepted for delivery)
Nov 15 00:22:19 mail sendmail[21133]: jAF5MHD2021128: to=<turner@mail.blackbear.biz>, delay=00:00:01, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=local, pri=31744, dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent

Are you sure that SpamAssassin is doing the rewriting and not sendmail ?

Sendmail has the habit of rewriting recipient addresses if the domain is a CNAME rather than an A record.

On your server, is this the case ?

Cheers

Dave
