Hi!

Attempted to install Scalix 11.0.4 (CE) on both FC5 and Debian 3.1 today, and each time got smoothly through the manual installation process to the point where I was to create the default admin account. At first I thought it must be some issue with FC5, so I wiped the drive, went through the process again carefully, and got stuck at the same exact point, same error code. Now with Debian too! Starting to feel bewildered. Everything by the book, no errors that I've noticed, up till I enter the line:

It unflinchingly replies with:

[OM 8114]. Could not get a license to configure this user.

So, I did a bit more reading, came up with:

sxlicense -u

Which helpfully tells me

Could not communicate with the license manager.

Now, here's where it gets sticky. I'm running on a root server from 1&1, and I have only SSH access to the server I'm working on. After this process described above, if I reboot, the system actually bricks and won't let me back in at all. So I have no access to any error logs generated during the process after I've rebooted, and to continue working requires a reimage. The boss is starting to get ancy- can anyone offer any words of wisdom for me?

Forgot to mention I already attempted to restart omlicmon as referred to in this post:

viewtopic.php?t=3777&highlight=8114

All other processes are running, but even when I attempt to restart omlicmon, it still comes up as "Aborted."

Hi!

What error do you see in /var/opt/scalix/??/s/logs/fatal?

When you run the command below, it should be able to read the licence key file and get all
attributes:

sxlicmgr.py --get -t all

Check from the above command LVID(yyyy-mm-dd) for its expiry date of Licence and
Domain to see if the domain on which you have installed Scalix matches the one that is
allowed.

I am curious as to why you are doing a manual install of Scalix on FC5, when the installer is there to do everything for you? Seems you are trying to make this tougher than it needs to be.

You can run the installer with --cli as an argument to run it in text mode.

I'm actually using the installer on FC5. Should have been slightly clearer in my first post.

1st: tried using installer (text only mode) on FC5. The installer crashed with the 8114 error above.

2nd: did a minimal install of Debian 3.1 and followed the manual install guide and had the same crash in the same spot

3rd: put back FC5 (since that's what I'm most familiar with) and reinstalled Scalix which again crashed at the same point.

It's clear that the omlicmon program isn't starting or isn't being allowed to run for some reason.

When you are doing the install, are you putting in a license or telling it to use no license?

As you can see from the above- the installer is crashing before it sets up a license (because omlicmon is crashing I would guess). I feel like there must be a simple answer to this like I'm running an incompatible version of xxxxx.rpm or I need to install xxxxx.rpm etc.

This is a fresh install on Fedora Core 5.

From my first post after I got this error message in Fedora Core the first time using the installer I wiped the machine and put Debian 3.1 on it instead. I used the manual install instructions and got stuck at the very same point with the same error message.

I'm now on a fresh install of Fedora Core 5 and Scalix 11.0.4 using the installer, and still getting the same error message.
