SME Server base on CENTOS 4.X base on (RED HAT ENTERPRISE 4)

Postby snoopyski » Fri Apr 20, 2007 9:09 pm

Hello Everyone,

WOW... I see the demo and I'm very interested by the product. I had download the demo's RPM... I try to Install BUT the installation script stop at "bad OS". I have downloaded the Red Hat Enterprise 4 rpm's because My Linux Server SME Server 7.1 is base on CENTOS... So CENTOS is the Open Source of Red Hat Enterprise 4 (base on). So how can I fixe this detection problem ?

Thanks,

Snoopyski

edit /etc/redhat-release

Remove any lines.

It should say

Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant)

Then it should install just fine.

Scalix only supports sendmail, and postfix.

You may want to take a look at my installation instructions for Scalix on CentOS 4.

Hi,

As someone who use SME extensively around 3 years ago, don't try installing Scalix on this - it will possibly break several bits of the SME server. I would install on separate hardware, and use the SME as a mail/virus/spam gateway for Scalix.

Does anyone know what the line should say for CentOS 5?

Thanks,

I found in the net the following string which is used in RHEL5 :

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5 (Tikanga)

I plan to use Scalix 11on CentOS 5 too, but I cannot test this at this time.
Please tell us the result.
