Precautions before and during a server upgrade

Well, version 11.0.3 should be just around the corner, and I'd like to start this thread so that we can collect all the recommendations and precautions before the 11.0.2->11.0.3 upgrade. This way we don't end up with a broken server afterwards as I've seen so many post on the subject. It can be just a list of links to other previous posts.

Here is one for example:

But pay attention, after each update you have to add these lines again...

Here is another:
my local domains got all messed up after the upgrade and emails are disappearing!
*licensed* domains are put back in the SAC list of local domains after the upgrade. For example, if your license is for "domain1.com" and "domain2.com" and you set your Local Domain to "scalix.domain1.com", you have to immediately delete them from the list after the upgrade and add the one you want.


Sure, there are many other such situations, so please list them here.
In the future this may serve as the basis for scalix to develop a better *upgrade* script, which will take all these previous customizations into consideration. Not every installation is from scratch.
