I installed Scalix v10 CE RAW on Debian 3.1 Sarge and would like to upgrade now to version 11. I have been looking and can't seem to find any kind of tutorial or walk through on this, and I do not want to risk losing all my data by attempting to isntall 11 with the manual install instructions. Can anyone give me a path, or point me to some instructions on doing the upgrade on Debian.

Thanks.

This is based on Ubuntu, which is debian based. Not sure if it'll be identical, I really only have experience on the supported platforms.

Kevin,

While this may help me install it doesn't answer my initial question: upgrading. I would like to upgrade without risking losing any of my user's mail, not to mention all the e-mail accounts that are set up. Is there a way that I can upgrade the manual installation version, or will a normal install automatically update the older configurations?

Thanks

There will be parts of the install that likely aren't necessary, but an install will upgrade an existing mailstore, at least on the supported versions.

To be safe, you can tar up /var/opt/scalix (remember to preserve permissions). That's all you really need to recover in case of a catastrophic problem.

Thanks

Kevin,

I did what you said and it failed miserably. I kept getting errors about the post install scripts failing because of trying to restart the LDAP server. I ended up getting fed up and am now trying to revert back to version 10, however now it keeps telling me to re-run ompatchom, and when i run ompatchom it fails because it is unable to convert the AMERICAN laguage. I deleted all things associated with scalix, then extracted the tar.gz file, then installed the packages and attempted to omrc -n. Not really sure what to do at this point but my e-mail server is down...

This has been moved offline, and seems to be a permission issue, omcheck is currently running...

All is working again. Thank you so much for your help Kevin. I would not have been able to get this running without your assistance.
