Linux Distro Directory Compairson

Being a Newbe to Linux and trying to install various features to my Scalix server, I have found it very confusing trying to follow posts because the directory structure specified does not exist in my Linux Distro.
My question is this - Is there a table somewhere showing the differences in the directory structures of the most common Linux distros? The distro I am using is SUSE. It would be a great help if when a post says that file xyz was located at directory /abc, I could lookup directory /abc in the table and I would find with SUSE it was located at directory /def
I hope that I am not the only one to face this frustration.
