RE: Scalix 11.0.1 Maintenance Release

We current run the Scalix Appliance with verison 11.0.0 SBE. Is there a way of applying this upgrade without interrupting our users (maybe get it as a hotfix)?? Also, is there a new Outlook Connector included in this release? And, according to the Release Notes "after applying this update you need to create new profiles for Outlook". Is this true?? If so, would it even be worth it for me to upgrade??
Thanks!!

Are you talking about a partner appliance product?
The server needs to be restarted as part of the upgrade; this is a complete new release, the whole software installation will be replaced.
There is a new Outlook connector; this contains actually the most important bugfixes, including a few addressing crashes in the 11.0 connector. You will need to create new Outlook profiles only if you are running in SmartCache mode.
You will need to decide for yourself if the fixed issues listed in the Release Notes make the upgrade efforts worthwhile. Scalix recommends all users of Scalix 11.0 to upgrade to this maintenance release.

florian,
any idea when outlook 2007 support may be made available. If it is going to be within the next couple of months, I will wait until then to install 11.0.1 (so I won't have to re-create outlook profiles again).
Thanks.

Previous posts have suggested that Outlook 2007 should be out in March or April, hopefully sooner.
Having said that, I would STRONGLY recommend upgrading to 11.0.1. There are some worthwhile and significant fixes.

After doing a back up of the suggested files on our 11.0 server.
Will any emails, accounts, groups, or resources be over written during the upgrade from 11.0 to 11.01?

certainly no. no scalix upgrade has ever done any of this.

Seriously, the upgrade takes about 10 minutes, and other than that window for downtime, will have no impact on your users.
One potential area of concern can be that if you have done customization of Sendmail via the .cf file, or if you have made changes to the web config files, they may need to be redone, however, if you don't know what I'm talking about, you really don't need to worry, as everything will continue to work fine. :)
