I'm just wondering if some day Scalix will support Debian or Ubuntu environments? and Will include a nice installer like in fedora?

no decision yet... support... depends on business case.... installer ... somewhat unlikely, given that preferred methods of installation in debian/ubuntu environments are based on apt and related tools.... obviously with a lot more automation than we provide today....

Florian-

Can't your installer run in text mode on Ubuntu?

no. the problem is not text vs graphics mode, but rather syschecks performed and system customization (e.g. apache) to be done - this is extremely distro-specific code that's very painful to adapt to other platforms. for unbuntu, specifically, it would be even worse due to the differences of RPM vs. DEB packaging format.

having said that - the Scalix Installer is part of Scalix' Open Source offerings - so you can have a look yourself and possibly consider porting it.

Cheers,
Florian.

Add me to the wish list.

I have seen quite a few requests/comments about Debian and Scalix.
Perhaps Debian users aren't telling you loud/often enough??

Love Scalix, hate having to have another box with another distro flavour just for it.
Debian remains my choice of flavour for a wide range of reasons.

Scalix also remains my choice as it is by far the best solution I have seen.

I would love to get the two together......so far I haven't been able to get 11GA to work on a Debian box - gave up trying for now, and probably until it is supported.

Great work on the added features in 11 by the way - have been using Scalix since 9.
