I am in the process of working a deal with other colleges to setup an exchange of backup dns/mx records . this will allow for queueing of mail should either mail server crash/loose power for an extended period, etc. . .

can scalix's smtp agent queue mail for another domain? . .i assume so . .but want to be 100% certain. i can do the config in sendmail in my sleep . .but scalix is another world entirely to me.

This can be setup.

Scalix Relay will accept everything that is
a) either coming in for a directory-known scalix-user
b) coming from a sytem that is listed as accepted relay host in smtpd.cfg

email accepted for reason (b) will be handed over to sendmail after passing through the scalix service router for eventually configured anti-virus scanning. sendmail will queue and resend, so if all components are configured correctly! :-) (including dns), this will work.

cheers,
Florian.
