then i just follow the instructions of the manual..then when it reaches to "CREATE ADMIN USER"..then i put a password, click ok. it pops-up a dialog box says: "Failed to configure server -- check the log for errors. Click OK to quit Scalix Installer"

The clue is in the error...

Code: Select all

2006-09-13 19:24:38,664 CRITICAL Failed calling command '/opt/scalix/bin/ommakeom' with exit code 1 msg ['ommakeom: "/home/scalix" exists and is not empty']

Looking at the rest of your log it appears you created a user 'scalix' already with a directory /home/scalix and put all your install files in that directory. That's not wrong per se but it breaks things as far as Scalix is concerned.

The installation wants to create a 'scalix' user with a home directory of /var/opt/scalix so that it can install the message store. Because the directory already exists, it checks to make sure that this isn't an attempt to create the message store on a mounted filesystem, i.e. LVM or SAN.

In your case, the directory contains a lot of other files and so the installation will abort.

The only workaround is to rename/delete your scalix user and let the installer do it for itself.

Cheers

hi dkelly,

thanks..the installation is finish. but there's a problem when the browser pop-up with the http://test1.sampledomain.com/sac?authi ... domain.com, there is no page found..

this is my hosts file looks like:
# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 localhost localhost.localdomain
192.168.1.20 test1.sampledomain.com

i also check for the httpd and scalix-tomcat..then start it up..but still i cant view the page

Note: This is how i implement the scalix server

internet--->firewall/router--->privatenetwork--->saclix server [private ip address 192.168.1.20]

i just make a domain like test1.sampledomain.com for testing and evaluating up the scalix server..any advice on this matter!
cheers,

janskey
