I think there is a BIG BUG in the installation Programm!

I test it on SuSE 10.0 and FC4:

Install Scalix as root user by ./scalix-installer
Uninstall scalix same way...

after uninstalling user root is deleted !!! reboot --> nearby nothing is working!

I've installed and uninstalled Scalix at least a hundred times on various systems and have never seen this happen. There are many users on this site that have done the same, also without having this happen. Can you provide some details? Can you post your Scalix installer log so we can take a look at it?

Hi,

I can't post the log, because I'm not at the scalix machine now. But I have an idea where the problem can be:

at installation, the installer ask for an scalix-administration name and password. Because it's easier for me to remember only one username and passwd for that machine I choose:

root
myrootpassword (same as the system-root login)

Maybe Scalix removes the user at uninstall.
If that is the error, please block using "root" as scalix-admin at the next release.

Ahh, that may be the issue as I always use the default "scalix" user. I believe we do attempt to cleanup any users we create, so that may be the issue. I'll check with Engineering.
