Hello,

Have been trying to install Scalix on a 64bit Xeon server with SuSE 64bit Ent Linux Srvr 9 installed on it according to Scalix's min requirements. The install gui gets past checking the services but then when it gets to the "Installation" portion the window is blank and all the buttons below are inactive. There are a few Python errors on the screen, they look like this:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "build/py23/sxmerlin.py", line 320, in forward_event
File "build/py23/sxmerlin.py", line 280, in do_transition

File "build/py23/sxscreens.py", line 1710, in build_work_area
File "build/py23/sxscreens.py", line 1731, in create_progress_bar
SystemError: NULL result without error in PyObject_Call
Scalix Installer - cleaning up...
Scalix Installer - stopped.

And the log file generated during the install up until i kill it because it is seemingly stuck, looks like this:

It looks OK, nothing that really stands out, it's just that the window when it gets to the "Installation" portion the window is blank and buttons are inactive so i cannot go forward.

Thanks,

Mike,

You are correct, the error is not due to the missing J2SDK.

After review of the log file, you've uncovered an issue w/ the Scalix Installer. It is not recognizing SLES 9 - 64 bit as an unsupported platform.

***from the log file***

2004-12-26 09:52:39,902 INFO Operation passed: OS release check SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 (x86_64)

We have not tested or certified SLES 9 - 64 bit version. SLES 9 (32 bit) is a fully supported. We are happy to help w/ your eval moving forward on a supported platform.

Regards,
Art
